Chokokan was the first museum in Saga Prefecture to open in 1927 (Showa 2). The museum was closed during wartime but reopened in 1998 (Heisei 10) . Materials created by the daimyo, such as historical documents and artworks passed down by the Marquis Nabeshima Family (a former feudal lord from Saga), will be on display at special exhibitions held several times a year. Make sure to check out the western-style architectural heritage from the early ages, which is a registered tangible cultural property in Saga. Please check the official website for the information on the period and contents of exhibitions.
