Hizen Tsusentei

Baisao (1675 - 1763), one of the historical figures from Saga, is known as the founder of Sencha tea ceremony.
He is said to have set the direction of Kyoto culture by serving tea to people from all social classes during the Edo Period, when the caste system was still present in Japan's feudal society.
Hizen Tsusentei exhibits the articles and documents left by Baisao. There is also a cafe space, where visitors can enjoy looking at Arita sencha teaware and taste Ureshino tea and the specialty sweets of Saga.
Here you can learn the master's virtue of a true tea ceremony: recreating a new world inside one tea pot.
