The full-size monument of 25 great figures related to Saga, who actively participated in various fields around the end of Edo period and Meiji Restoration were set up at 9 places on the central street of Saga City according to the "Hizen Saga Bakumatsu-Meiji Restoration Expo" which is held all around the prefecture from March 17, 2018 to January 14, 2019.
Enjoy walking around historical sites in towns of Saga while learning about the achievements of each figure who has accomplished great feats.

Founder of Waseda University. Served as Prime Minister twice.
-Soejima Taneomi (1828-1905) *The figure sitting on the right
Demonstrated his abilities as Foreign Minister in the Maria Luz incident (1872), and was evaluated internationally as "a man of justice".
