Sukesaku Tashiro, the wealthy merchant of Arita, built this Japanese-Western style building in 1876 as an accommodation and reception facility for foreign merchants who came to buy pottery. It is registered as one of the Important Cultural Properties of Saga Prefecture. It was donated by the owner, then renovated by Arita Town and was opened in 2017.
