Niji No Matsubara Pine Grove

Niji No Matsubara is a black pine grove created artificially by the order of Terasawa Shimanokami Hirotaka, who was the first load of Karatsu Domain, in order for the purpose of preventing the wind and sand from the beach. Total length is about 4.5 km, it is counted as one of the 3 major pine groves in Japan.
Mt. Kagamiyama

This 283.6 meter-tall mountain, Mt. Kagamiyama is known for the mythical tragic love story of Princess Sayo Matsuura. You can enjoy the panoramic view of Niji No Matsubara Pine Groves and the Karatsu Bay from the mountain top observation deck. It is also famous as a place to see cherry blossoms and azaleas. In spring, the climbing trail turns into a tunnel of cherry blossoms.
Karatsu Castle

The original castle was built in 1608 by Terazawa Hirotaka, the first lord of the Karatsu Domain. The present castle keep tower was newly built in 1966 and you can overlook the Niji No Matsubara Pine Grove and the Karatsu Bay and the downtown area of Karatsu City from the top floor. It is also well known as a viewing spot of cherry blossoms and wisteria in Spring.
Hikiyama Exhibition Hall

"Due to the rebuilding of the Hikiyama Exhibition Hall, it has been relocated to the former Multipurpose Hall of Karatsu Furusato Kaikan Alpino and is now open. At the biggest festival in Karatsu City, Karatsu Kunchi, 14 Hikiyama floats that go around the town are open to the public. These various formative beauty is designated as an important tangible folk cultural property of Saga as an excellent craft that is rarely seen."
Yobuko Morning Market

The morning market of Yobuko is counted as one of the three major morning markets in Japan. About 40 street stalls on weekdays and about 60 on weekends and public holidays will be lined up selling fresh and dried seafood, vegetables, fruits and other items.
Hado Cape

Hado Cape is located in the northeast edge of the Higashi Matsuura Peninsula sticking out into the Genkai Sea. At the finish point of Kyushu Olle Karatsu Course, there are lines of food stalls serving grilled turban shells, "Sazae No Tsuboyaki Baiten." Savor the delicacy from the Genkai Sea.
Okawachiyama Village

After the government of the Saga Domain set up kilns that produce only gifts for the government here in the Edo Period, pottery makers here continued providing potteries to the Tokugawa Shogunate and the government officials until the end of the Edo Period. The area is scattered with old brick chimneys and 30 kilns, and you can feel the history and tradition of about 350 years alive here. The Agency for Cultural Affairs recognize stories of its culture and tradition through historical attractions or features as “Japanese Heritage”. In April, 2016, the history and landscape of Okawachiyama was recognized as “Hometown of Japanese Pottery, Hizen ~Pottery Walk with Simultaneous Emergence of Many Talents and Achievements ~". In “Michelin Green Guide Saga Online” that introduces tourist spots giving one to three stars to foreign tourists, Okawachiyama has received two stars as a place that is “worth visiting”.The Agency for Cultural Affairs recognize stories of our culture and tradition through historical attractions or features as “Japanese Heritage”. Yoko Museum / Keishu-En

The museum exhibits ancient Chinese potteries based on various themes and the Japanese garden Keishu-en fascinates visitors with its beautiful composition of stones, waterfalls and seasonal flowers in the 2.5-acre garden.
Yutoku Inari Shrine

Home to "Yutoku", the god for good business, the five grains, and large harvests, this shrine has long been loved and is one of the three major Inari Okami shrines. The shrine has Ohitaki bonfires, introduces Shinto religious services and prayers, and bad-omen years.
